Palas de Rei ist ein Ort in Galicien am Rande des Jakobsweges. Er gehört zur Provinz Lugo und hat 3667 Einwohner.
Der Ortsname heißt wörtlich übersetzt Königspalast. Es gibt aber weder Belege für die These, dass hier König Witiza Hof gehalten hätte, noch dass der Ort im 5. Jh. Bischofssitz gewesen sei. Die erste erhaltene urkundliche Erwähnung findet sich im Caelicolae von Alfons III. Weiterhin beschreibt es Aimeric Picaud im Jakobsbuch als Palacium Regis. Eine weitere Erwähnung an gleicher Stelle geißelt die Prostitution, die es seinerzeit am Jakobsweg zwischen Portomarin und Palas de Rei gegeben haben soll.
Kunsthistorisch relevant ist in Palas de Rei die in dem Caelicolae erwähnte Kirche San Tirso. Auf dem Gemeindegebiet finden sich jedoch eine Vielzahl romanischer Kirchen, deren wichtigste die Fresken geschmückte Salvadorkirche in Vilar de Donas ist. Auch die Burg von Pambre gehört administrativ zu Palas de Rei.
